    Haunting Exhibition On View

    September 24 – October 23

Haunting can be defined as “poignant and evocative, difficult to ignore or forget”. This spooky season, we invited our artists to make some “haunting” artwork by exploring mythology, fairytales, history, and imagination. Whether they are capturing the eerie essence of the nighttime forest, highlighting the creatures that lurk in the shadows, or exploring histories that humans have forgotten, we invited them to submit works that possess the imagination!

Stop in and see what they have created!

Floral Textile Design & Painting with Kim Parker

    Date:  Saturday October 18 | 2-3:30 PM

Location: SCAHC Spring Street Gallery – 133 Spring Street | Newton, NJ 07860

In this art class, we will create a floral decorative vase with an intricate surface design pattern -containing a flowering plant or bouquet with gouache! An actual prop will be on view in the class to assist students as a visual reference. We will explore the various elements of a successful textile design, which includes an understanding of rhythm, movement, color, scale and forms. Gouache has a rich color saturation and can have both an opaque or translucent quality depending on its application which we will explore.

    Friday, October 24th at 6:30 -8:00 PM

SCAHC Spring Street Gallery – 133 Spring Street | Newton, NJ 07860

Celebrate the beauty of the season by creating your own harvest-inspired succulent terrarium! In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the step-by-step process of building a miniature fall landscape inside a glass vessel.

We’ll begin by layering the terrarium with a beautiful foundation of sand, pebbles, moss, and our own hand-mixed soil blend, designed to keep your succulents thriving. Next, you’ll select plants from a variety of hardy succulents and arrange them to bring balance and visual interest to your design.

To complete the look, we’ll decorate with harvest-themed accents—think miniature pumpkins, dried florals and other seasonal touches that add warmth and charm. The result is a unique living centerpiece that brings a touch of autumn into your home.

Whether you’re new to terrariums or a seasoned plant lover, this workshop is a fun, creative way to welcome the harvest season while learning the art of succulent care and design.
